Sony HD 500 Numbers

Kasey Kahne knew what he had to do to help his chances of getting into the chase. He had to win. He did just that in Sundays Sony HD 500 Sunday giving him his fifth win of the season and now Kahne is 30 points behind 10th place Jeff Burton. Kahne led 130 of 250 laps. Kahne gave up the lead on lap 238 when he came on for his final stop and came back out 14 seconds behind race leader Reed Sorenson.

Dale Earnhardt who has struggled on the 2 mile California track finished 2nd and was very pleased at his teams performance after not making the chase last season.

Jimmy Johnson finished 11th and loses his points lead to Matt Kesneth who finished 7th. Johnson has been in the points lead all but 2 weeks this season. His teammate Jeff Gordon finished 5th moving him up one spot to 4th in points. Gordon also led 42 of 250 laps.
