Jeff Gordon gets pole after rain delay

Jeff Gordon's wait for his third career Bud Pole at Bristol Motor Speedway took a little longer than he expected.

Gordon's lap of 127.597 mph Friday was the fastest of the first 27 cars on the track, but a thunderstorm caused a delay of over an hour before qualifying resumed.

Mark Martin came closest to knocking Gordon off the pole, turning a lap of 127.588 mph to share the front row for Saturday night's Sharpie 500.

Michael Waltrip, Mike Skinner and Kurt Busch completed the top five. Dale Earnhardt Jr. who 2^nd in points starts 9^th and points leader Matt Kenseth is 10^th.
